Bernadine Brewer Dorsey of Sheridan, Arkansas was born May 23, 1930 in Perla, Arkansas, the daughter of the late William Alton and Zelma Gladys Walters Brewer.

She was a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church in the Ico Community and was a retired private duty Licensed Practical Nurse. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and for years was the unofficial “other mother” for countless numbers of people growing up in the Ico Community. Bernadine had a quick wit and was never at a loss for words. She was proud to be the matriarch of her family, and she leaves a rich legacy of love, loyalty, and perseverance.

“Gigi” died Sunday, February 3, 2019 at Sheridan Healthcare and Rehab at the age of 88.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, J.C. Dorsey, sons, Stephen Dorsey and Stuart Dorsey, grandson, Joseph Hill, son-in-law, Harvey Skorcz, and brothers, Don Brewer, Harold Brewer, sister, Jane Zeybel and a half brother, Jack Brewer.

Survivors: daughters, Sharon Skorcz, Susan and husband Bob Spears all of Sheridan; grandchildren, Robert and wife Brooke Spears, Stephanie Spears, Ben and wife Jessica Spears; great grandchildren, Dorsey Spears, Bryar and Oakley Spears, Harley and Hagan Spears, John, Blake and Sarah Mitchell and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral service will be 10:00 A.M. Thursday, February 7, 2019 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel with Michael Walton and Bob Robbins officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery in the Ico Community. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
