Donald Stanley Hoiseth was born on June 27, 1925 in Georgeville, Minnesota, the son of Mathias and Alma (Ellingson) Hoiseth. He grew up in the Georgeville/Belgrade area where he attended school, graduating in 1943. He enlisted in the United States Navy at the age of seventeen during WWII, serving as a Radioman on the USS Mount Olympus. He received an Honorable Discharge on July 21, 1946. He returned to Minnesota and received his electrician training at Dunwoody in Minneapolis.
Don moved to Willmar and worked as an Electrical Contractor. He was united in marriage to Alice Ruth Lovander, on September 4, 1948, at Sharon Lutheran Church in Spicer. The couple lived in Willmar and were blessed with three daughters. Don started Hoiseth Electric where he was a Master Electrician for 40 years.
In 1988, Don and Ruth moved to Lake Calhoun in rural Spicer; he retired in 1990.
Don was a member of the American Legion, Willmar Elks, Willmar V.F.W., and the Kandiyohi County Fair Association.
Don's family was his life, and he cherished the 70 years of marriage to his wife, Ruth. He loved spending time with his family on Lake Calhoun. He loved the outdoors, being on the pontoon, baseball, working on the farm, and growing vegetables to share with his family and friends.
Don is survived by his wife, Ruth Hoiseth; daughters: Mari (and John) Anderson; Beth Hoiseth (and Roger Hager), Sherri (and Barry) Bernstein; grandchildren: Adam and Sara Anderson, Raina and Ayden Bernstein, Jamie (and Brian) Phillips, Samantha (and Zach) Freimark, Mary Hager; great-grandchildren: Lucas Phillips, Vivian and Josephine Freimark; brother, Mel Hoiseth and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Leslie Hoiseth.
