A. Gaston Dalton, 83, died Monday, July 16, 2012, at Mission Hospital.

A native of Buncombe Co., he was a son of the late Andrew Hickston Dalton and Cornelia Pinkerton Dalton. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Dalton; daughter, Lisa Bradford; and brother, Alfred Hicks Dalton.

Mr. Dalton retired from the Times-News, Hendersonville, and previously was employed for 30 years at the Asheville Citizen-Times.

He is survived by a son, Mark Dalton and his wife, Andrea; grandchildren Heather Holloway, Stacey Holloway, Colby Dalton, Peyton Dalton, and Madison Dalton; son-in-law Randy Bradford; sisters Synetta Dalton Cowan of Nevada, Evelyn Rebecca Calloway and husband Charles of NC, and Cornelia Rose Dalton of Florida; and brother Charles Herbert Dalton of Texas.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday in the Patton Ave. chapel of Groce Funeral Home, with the Rev. C. Morris Boyd, D. Min. officiating.
