Elsie Nelms Agricola, 95, passed away on Friday, March 10, 2017, at her home in Gadsden.
She was born in Atlanta to the late Nym Jackson Nelms and Elsie Hogg Nelms. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Hugh Wilmer Agricola III; and her husband, the Rev. Hugh Wilmer Agricola Jr.
She graduated from Girls' Preparatory School in Atlanta and attended Georgia State University. Elsie served her family as a Scout leader, teacher, nurse, intercessor, hostess and partner. She will be remembered as gracious, supportive and resilient in all aspects of her life.
The family wishes to thank especially each caregiver who supported her and all of us in recent times with Elsie's care. Her wish to donate her remains for medical research will delay interment. The family will announce a memorial service at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the local pet rescue, Episcopal Church of the Resurrection in Rainbow City.
She is survived by her three children; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren (names withheld.)
