Son of the late Abe Spangler and Oneta Cates Spangler. He graduated from Bonham High School and was top ten percent of the nation. He attended college in Commerce, Texas. He was a former resident of Trenton, Texas when his family owned and operated the Golden Eagle Camp, east of Trenton. He loved riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, which is how he died. He worked as a superintendant for Rodda Construction at Lakeland, Florida and served as a member and past president of the Cobras Motorcycle Club. He is survived by daughters Carlyn Leigh of Fort Wroth, Texas and Kodi Wynn of Pottsboro, Texas; stepson David Seiben of Lakeland, Florida; sister Carolyn Weddington of Athens, Texas.
