Kathryn June Scott Kelly , 95, of Redstar, WV died on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley, WV after a long illness. Born June 06, 1917 at Whipple, WV she was the daughter of the late William J. and Iva Nona Smith Scott. Ms. Kelly had lived on Horseshoe Bend at Redstar most of her life. A 1935 graduate of Oak Hill High School, she became Postmaster for the Redstar Post Office and happily served her community for 52 years. June formerly attended the Redstar "church on the hill" with her family and loved singing the old hymns, her favorite being "The Old Rugged Cross." Although June had no children of her own she always loved the neighborhood children. Her love for animals (her dogs and cats) was known by all. She was a generous and giving person. After retiring, June enjoyed playing Bingo every Saturday at the Fayetteville American Legion. Watching sporting events on television was also her passion. As the last surviving member of her immediate family she was preceded in death by three sisters, Nell Frazier, Iva Stanley and Jennie Mathews and three brothers, Joseph B. Scott, Hobart Scott and James Kenneth Scott. She is survived by a niece, Nancy Harding, who cared for her for nine years, a special friend, Virginia "Susie" Lesher of Martinsburg, her family at the personal care home and many nieces and nephews. Graveside rites and committal services will be on Saturday, October 13, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Beckley.
