Lillie was my grandmother, but she and grandpa virtually raised me until I was 4 years old. I have so many memories of things she did with me and for me. She loved nothing more than playing the piano or organ, and she played completely by ear, she couldn't read a note of music. The first songs she taught me to sing were "Jesus Loves Me" and "Jesus Wants Me For A Sunbeam". I tried to follow in her footsteps by taking piano lessons, but I wasn't nearly as talented. We used to ride the bus downtown and either walk home or take a cab - which was quite a treat for me. A special treat was having lunch at the Brandeis cafeteria, always meatloaf, mashed potatoes and jello cubes! What I wouldn't give for another special lunch with my grandma! Even after grandpa died and she lived in an assisted living apartment near my house, my kids and I would join her for lunch a couple times a month - she was so proud of all her great-grandchildren!

She was preceded in death by my grandfather, Alfred M. Erikson, her parents and siblings. Survived by her son, Art Erikson, and his wife Pamela; grandchildren Melinda (Steven) Kurtz, Melissa (Dan Luneke), Marc Erikson, and Melanie (John) Reida, and by great-grandchildren, Meghan, Amber, Matthew, Aaron (AJ), and Anthony (Tony).
