Two teen-aged boys and an 88 year-old woman were killed Thursday in accidents near Oklahoma City. [omitted her part]. The two boys died when a motor-scooter was over run by a car on Lincoln boulevard a half mile north of Britton road shortly after p.m. The victims were identified as: EARL DENTON BALL, 13, Edmond. RICHARD CLARENCE SMITH, 15, Edmond. The highway patrol said Ball and Smith were riding a motor-scooter together when they were overrun by a car driven by John L. Wallen, 42, of 4600 NW 45 Terrance. Both boys were pinned beneath Wallen's late model car, their bodies badly mangled with the wreckage of their motor-scooter. Troopers Ray Rich and Bob Blackburn said another motor-scooter carrying two other boys, on of them a brother to Smith, [should be Ball] narrowly managed to dodge Wallen's car. The two boys were identified as Robert Owen Ball, 16, Edmond, and Jerry Houseman, 14, of 8000 N. Western. All four youths were enroute to Houseman's home at the time of the accident. Rich said the boys were dragged 270 feet beneath Wallen's car. Wallen, a chef at Holiday Inn Northeast, of Oklahoma City, was arrested until officers complete their investigation. Troopers charged Wallen had been drinking and evidence from a drunk-o-meter test would be turned over to the county attorney's office for study Friday.

Charles Gregory, assistant county attorney, said no charges will be filled in connection with the highway death Thursday night of two young Edmond boys pending completion of the investigation by highway patrol trooper. Earl Denton Ball, 13, and Richard Clarence Smith, 15, were killed when the motor scooter on which they were riding was struck and dragged 270 feet by an auto driven by John L. Wallen, 42 year old chef, 4600 NW 45. The accident occurred on Lincoln Blvd., a half mile north of Britton road, at 9 a.m. [should be p.m.] Thursday.
No Test Given. Wallen was questioned by troopers Bob Blackburn and Ray Rich and then taken to said Wallen appeared to be under shock and it was not possible immediately to obtain a statement from him. Wallen did not submit to a drunk-o-meter test or any other chemical test. Howard Heffron, attorney for Wallen, appeared at the county attorney's office Friday morning. He said Wallen was not injured in the crash, but suffered severe shock.
Scooter Dragged.
Troopers Blackburn and Rich were off duty Friday morning and could not be reached for a report of their investigation. Gregory said he expects to have their official report later Friday, however. The young victims were riding along the highway when their scooter was struck by the Wallen car. Victims and the scooter reportedly were dragged nearly a block beneath the car. The other boys, riding on another scooter beside the victims, were not involved in the death crash. They were identified as Robert Owen Ball, 16, Edmond, and Jerry Houseman, 14, of 8000 N. Western.
Action Postponed
The four boys were enroute to Houseman's home at the time. Heffron said Wallen had been to Edmond and was returning to his home. Wallen did not see the motor scooter before the impact, Heffron said. Edmond, June 14 Double funeral services for Richard Clarence Smith, 15, and Earl Denton Ball, 13, who were killed Thursday night in an auto-motor scooter accident on U.S. 66 north of Britton road, will be 2 p.m. Monday at the First Baptist church, with burial in Gracelawn cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Baggerley & Mills funeral home. Smith was born in Van Wert, Ohio, and had lived in Edmond the past six years. he recently completed his freshman year at Edmond high school. Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Smith; three brothers, Stephen W.; Max E., both of the home, and Leland D., of the U. S. Marine Corps; a sister, Cheryl Kay, of the home. Ball recently completed the eighth grade at Russell Dougherty school. His is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Levander Ball; three brothers, Robert, Johnny and Louis Ray; and three sisters Clara Sue, Betty Lou, and Fay Leen all of the home.
