Willie and Susie M. Osborn Giles, Sr. brought into this world another child, a daughter they named Bertha Mae on November 11, 1951.

Bertha Mae confessed her faith in Christ at a tender age and united with Eastern Star Baptist Church. She attended elementary school in Gurdon, and was a 1969 graduate of Gurdon High School.

Bertha Mae worked as a cook at the former Bowen’s Restaurant.

Jesus hand-picked His Christmas gift, and on December 21, 2007, after 56 seasons God called Bertha Mae home from labor to reward. Bertha Mae was welcomed home by her father and mother, Mrs. Susie Giles who surrendered her soul on December 18, 2006.

Bertha Mae leaves to cherish her precious memories, Five sons, James Giles, Sr. and his wife Andrea of Prescott, AR, James Terry Balch, Jr., of Arkadelphia, Michael Lewis Balch of Arkadelphia, Terry D. Giles of Lansing, MI, Vance D. Balch and his wife Rudisha of Arkadelphia and one daughter, Deborah Monroe and her husband Herman of Dallas, TX; two sisters, Dianna Garland and Marilyn Giles both of Gurdon, AR; six brothers, Willie Giles, Jr., Joe Willie Giles, Larry James Giles and his wife Val all of Gurdon, AR, Ray Charles Giles, Roy Lee Giles and Richard Lee Giles and his wife Andrea all of Lansing, MI; Four uncles, Nathan Giles and his wife Linda, James Giles, Augusta Giles and his wife Bobbie, Otis and his wife Tricia Giles all of Lansing, MI, and one aunt Mary Beavers of Lansing, MI, 10 grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, numerous friends and the Eastern Star Baptist Church family.

You may visit Ms. Giles and sign the guest book at Williams Funeral Home on Friday, December 28, 2007 from 11:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m.

The Giles family will greet friends and share with them the Images of Life DVD from

6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

The last farewell to the life of Ms. Bertha Mae Giles will be Saturday, December 29, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. in the Sanctuary of Eastern Star Baptist Church in the Smithton Community. Her first cousin Rev. James H. Giles, Sr., pastor of St. Paul AME Church in Arkadelphia will deliver the celebration message.

The Committal Service & Final Resting Place will be in Rose Hedge Cemetery.

Active bearers of the casket will be Kenneth Jones, Johnnie Smith, Franklin Smith, Shafungus Dickens, Wesley Butler, and Terrell Butler.

Honorary bearers of the casket will be James Edward Giles, James Terry Balch, Jr., Micheal Lewis Balch, Terry Dionne Giles, Vance Dale Balch and Vance Dale Balch, Jr.
