Visitation will be Thursday, February 14, 2019 from 5 PM to 8 PM at the Tangipahoa Baptist Church. Visitation will resume again on Friday from 11 AM until services at 2 PM at the church. Rev. Mike Morris will officiate and burial will be in New Zion Cemetery.
Retus was born on February 14, 1949 in Liberty, MS. He is the son of the late, Barney B., and Irene Tarver Nunnery.
Retus was an owner-operator of Nunnery Construction, where he worked for over twenty years with his wife and was a member of the Tangipahoa Baptist Church. He was a loving, wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He enjoyed hunting; listening to Conway Twitty and picking up cans for his exercise. He will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Shannon Kay Nunnery and one sister, Dorothy Wilkinson.
He is survived by his wife of forty happy years, Violet (Patty) Nunnery; four daughters and their spouses, Kimberly Ward (Michael), Linda "Todie" Dyson (Robbie), Vickie Forman (Kirk) and Shelia Sartin (Joey); numerous brothers, sisters and family members; thirteen grandchildren, three special grandchildren, Christopher Retus Nunnery, Dakota Ward and Piper Dyson; three great-grandchildren with numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be David Davis, Robbie Dyson, Tanner Tanksley, Nicholas Sharp, Clint Berryhill and Kevin Clause.
