Mary Alice Scarlett, of Sabetha, Kansas, passed away on May 25, 2011, at the Apostolic Christian Nursing Home, Sabetha, KS at the age of 83.
She was born on September 14, 1927, north of Oskaloosa, Kansas, to John Rudolph and Mabel Irene (Fulton) Gutschenritter.
She married her "mother's favorite" Marlin K. Scarlett on December 21, 1947. Mary adored Marlin and we are all grateful and blessed to have had a part of this union.
Mary is survived by her husband, Marlin, and her 5 children and spouses, Cliff and Ardith Scarlett (Seattle WA), Cheryl and Dave Scoby (Junction City, Kansas and Texas), Marlene Scarlett (Grand Blanc, MI), Mark and Connie Scarlett (Spokane WA) and Joan and Gary Bayens (Topeka, KS); 11 grand-children, 3 stepgrandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren, a brother, John N. (Sharon) Gutschenritter, Eudora, and a sister, Gertrude Irene (Ken) Marsi, Santa Barbara, CA.
Mary will be cremated with services held at a later date.
Memorials can be made to the Apostolic Christian Home Nursing Scholarship Fund, Cobblestone Court, Sabetha First United Methodist Church, or Mary Cotton Library, all in Sabetha Kansas, or any charity of choice.
