Centenarian Dies Sunday
Obit summary:
Ten days short of her 101st birthday Mrs. Mary Christana Ackerman, 504 View Ridge Dr., died at an Everett hospital, Sunday evening. She was born Nov. 11, 1858 in Clayton County, Iowa.
On her 100th birthday last year she was name Centenarian of 1958 by the Allied Florists of Snohomish County and was presented with 100 roses. Among the 119 birthday cards she received; one from President Eisenhower.
Born Mary Kircher (note should be; Kicherer) to pioneer residents of Iowa, married in 1882 to Rudoph Ackerman. They lived in Minneapolis for a number of years, moved to Cincinnati, Ohio, where he died in 1919. Following his death Mrs. Ackerman brought here family to Washington where she has lived since.
The last charter member of St. Petri Lutheran Church, Minneapolis, here member of Westminster Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Richard Schwarz, 504 View Ridge Dr.; two sons, August Ackerman of Minneapolis and Clarence of Cincinnati; seven grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Tuesday in the chapel of Challacombe-Fickel & Precht, the Rev. Robert Brown of Westminster Church officiating. Her remains will be sent to Minneapolis, the mayor the which city last year named her an honorary citizen. There added services will be held in Welander-Quist Funeral Home. Burial will be in Crystal Lake Cemetery, Minneapolis.
