Arley Leo Hinds, 90, of Oktaha, Oklahoma passed away on Thursday, February 14, 2019. He was born on March 4, 1928 to Reece Lewis Hinds and Vonnie Mae (Davis) Hinds in Braggs, Oklahoma.

Leo attended Braggs Public School. He served in the United States Army during WWII and received an honorable discharge.

Leo married the love of his life, Fay Jean Johnson, on June 9, 1966 at Liberty Baptist Church in Oktaha, Oklahoma. They shared over 52 years of life and marriage together. Leo and Fay were former members of Temple Baptist Church.

Leo was a truck driver for Curt’s Oil for many years until his retirement in 1954. He enjoyed going fishing and tending to his vegetable garden. Leo thoroughly enjoyed eating hamburgers and pie, especially coconut cream pie and apple pie. He loved his family very much and loved spending as much time as possible with them. Leo will be missed by everyone who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by both parents, Vonnie Hinds and Reece Hinds; brothers, Junior Hinds, and Davis Hinds; grandsons; Terry Leo Hinds, James Bentz and Steven Perry; his adopted daughter, Deanna Hernandez; and sister-in-law Barbara Colbert.

Leo is survived by his wife Fay Jean Hinds; step son, Calvin Eslick; step daughter, Vicki Oliver; two daughters he adopted, Shala Hinds and Shawna Norton; granddaughters, Christina Boswell and husband Greg Boswell, Hailey Reed and Rachel Ruiz; grandsons, Jason Hernandez and wife Ymee Hernandez, Charlie Williams and Benny Ray Williams; great-grandsons, Hunter Boswell, Holten Boswell, Xander Hernandez, and Damien Perry; great-granddaughters, Brittany Hinds, Chloe Boswell, Sophia Ruiz, Natalie Hernandez, and Ashlyn Bentz; nephews, Ronnie Hinds and his wife Janice Hinds, Reece Hinds, Ginger Hinds, Jerry Hinds, Sue Hinds-Rowan, Johnnie Hinds, Larry Hinds, Mike and Rhonda Hinds; niece, Gloria and Sam Wallace, brothers-in-law, Buddy Johnson and wife Juanita Johnson, and Biggy Johnson and wife Pat Johnson.

A family conducted memorial service honoring Leo’s life will be 10AM, Friday, February 22, 2019 at Fort Gibson National Cemetery with Pastor Anthony Rowe officiating. Army military honors will be presented by Ft. Sill Military Honors Team.
