Eugene R. Mazur, 84, of New Kensington, died Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2006, at Allegheny Valley Hospital. He was born Feb. 3, 1922, in New Kensington to the late Rudolph and Stella Novak Mazur and lived in the area all of his life. He worked for Alcoa as a purchasing agent for the central machine division, retiring in 1980 after 40 years of service. After retiring from Alcoa, he later was a founder of Allegheny Heat Treat and Forge in the Schreiber Industrial Park, New Kensington, which later became Gentile Manufacturing. He served in the Army Air Forces as a nose gunner bombardier during World War II and had more than 50 combat missions over Italy, Germany and North Africa. He was a member of St. Mary Church, New Kensington; president of Polish Falcons Nest 41; a 1940 graduate of Arnold High School; a member of the 25 Year Alcoa Club, New Kensington Eagles and AARP and the Springdale Sportsmen Club, and a lifetime member of the Lower Burrell VFW. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, watching the Steelers and bowling with the Falcons. He is survived by a son, Richard Mazur, at home, and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Rose (Nader) Mazur, in 2003; a brother, Edwin Mazur, and a daughter, Deborah Jean Mazur. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in the JOHN F. KRUPA FUNERAL HOME INC., 1000 Freeport Road, New Kensington, where a Polish Falcons service will be at 7. A funeral outside of Mass will be 11 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home with the Rev. Richard Karenbauer officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Lower Burrell. Full military honors will be accorded by the Joint Veterans of Vandergrift.
