She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 37 years, Roy Amos; parents, William and Viola Slater Underwood; brother, William S. Underwood; sisters, Virginia U. Houdek, Viola U. Smith, Dorothy U. Sibley, and Martha Underwood.
Survivors are her children, Richard McNatt and Susan Sherrill (Stanley) of Muscle Shoals; grandchildren, Ricky C. McNatt, Jennifer McNatt, Rebecca Sherrill Luckett, Wes Sherrill; and great grandson, Brayden Schooler; sister, Carol Underwood Currier.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Deborah Batty for her years of friendship and loving care.
Mrs. Amos was a native of Colbert County, a graduate of Cherokee High School, and Carraway Methodist School of Nursing, Birmingham, AL. She was a pioneer in the concept and implementation of ICU/CCU in the Shoals area by assisting with the opening of the first ICU at Shoals Hospital. She instructed courses to in-house and area hospital nurses and retired from Shoals Hospital after 20 years as ICU Nurse Manager.
Mrs. Amos was an active member of MS First United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women for 52 years. In 2015, she transferred her membership to Tuscumbia First United Methodist Church. She was a lifetime member of the Town and Country Garden Club, MS Senior Center and Family Coast Association. She was an avid gardener, enjoyed reading, traveling, card games, and visiting with family and friends.
