"Susie B Hall
Once more the angel of death has come forth in our midst and taken from us a very noble young woman, just In the prime of life. Susie M. Hall was born near Devon, Bourbon county, Kansas, August 19, 1868, where she lived with her parents, A. K. and Maggie Hall, until 1883, when she went to Massachusetts, attended school there. She graduated from South Lancaster Academy, at which place she taught school for four years. From there she went to Boston and attended school, graduating from the Boston Normal college in 1896. She then returned to South Lancaster Academy and taught there until March 8, 1899, at which time she was compelled to give up her school on account of bad health, after having sought medical advise in regard to her condition. She was informed that her ills had developed Into consumption. She was advised to at once come west, and landed in Pueblo, Colorado, May 2, 1899. thinking that perhaps the mountain breeze would be of great benefit. But alas, too late; the grim destroyer had gained such a rapid hold that on Monday morning at 9 o'clock, at the home of her brother, W. R. Hall, at Pueblo, Colorado, death came and claimed its own, she having found peace with God. She united with the church about six teen years ago and since, that time has bean a faithful woman, a faithful worker for.God, with a majesty almost divine. Possessed with such a noble spirit and God-like love, that dares to do and die for others, her last words were: "I am ready to go I am not afraid to die."
There comes a time to the reverend soul when the veil is lifted, and in the awful hush of that moment we call death, when the fetters are falling from the spirit's limbs amid strains of music, soft as the rustle of wings, it Is permitted to look upon the unveiled splendors, and often, very often, It beckons to us and whispers with its latest breath "I hear them now."
Thus ends the life of one of the purest and coolest of women; one of the purest game of earth. At the time of death the deceased's age was 31 years and days. The remains, accompanied by her brother, arrived here Wednesday morning, August 30, 1899. She was taken to Centerville church followed by relatives and scores of friends. A very impressive funeral sermon was rendered by R T. Woods from Theso.., 4th chapter and 14th verse. Then all were given an opportunity to view the remains for the last time. She was then taken to the beautiful Centerville cemetery and laid beside her father and mother, so calm and sweetly sleeping."
