Paul was a WWII, U.S. Army Air Corps veteran and retired from his own plumbing business in Canaan, CT. He was a member of the First Congregational Church in Great Barrington, of the Elks, Moose Lodge and Rotary Clubs. Preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth Irene Whiting; step-daughter, Maria Miller and brothers, Abe, Gordon and Robert, surviving are his wife, Verona L Hammer of Brunswick, ME; son, Paul, Jr of Storrs, CT; daughter, Sharon Kay Hammer of Costa Rica; step-son, Peter Dus of Richmond, MA, step-daughter, Lois Smith of Bowdoinham, ME; three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. A remembrance gathering will be held at the 19th Hole of the Barefoot Bay Golf Club on January 26, 2014. A service will be held in Great Barrington, MA at a later time.
