Dandridge (Dan) Franklin Culp, age 79, of 3705 Van Tasset Street, died Tuesday, May 27, 1997.

Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Washington Avenue Christian Church, Amarillo, with Minister Windell Taylor, Chaplain of the Department of Veteran Affairs Medical Center, officiating. Burial was in the Llano Cemetery by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street.

Mr. Culp was born in Wellington. Dan attended Wellington (Texas) High School. He moved to Amarillo from Wellington in 1948. He was in construction and a member of Carpenter's Local Union 665, Palo Duro Lodge 1239 and Washington Avenue Christian Church.

He married Ruth Ora Judd in 1938 at Hollis, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death on December 24, 1995. They were both retired owners of Barnaby's Beanery which is now operated by their son and his wife.

Mr. Culp served in the army in the 27th Division, 165th Infantry Company A and then the 43rd Combat Engineers in Yokohama Japan in 1945.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Annah Kessler Culp; a sister, Carrie Culp Starkey and a brother, Ellis Culp.

Survivors include two sons, Charles F. Culp Jr. and Rickey Gene Culp and a daughter, Barbara Ann Brown, all of Amarillo, and eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
