Longtime Beaver resident, Gordon Reed Baker, passed away February 21, 2019 at the age of 92 at the Bennion Veteran's Home in Payson, Utah. He was born June 24, 1926 to William Milo and Florence Naomi (Larsen) Baker in Beaver, Utah and was the third of five children.

He graduated from Beaver High School in 1944 and enlisted in the Navy as a C.B. in the South Pacific during WWII. He married his high school sweetheart, Estelle Hickman on March 19, 1947 in the St. George Temple. To this marriage were born 6 children: Phillip, Robert, Patrick, Ronald, Kenneth, and Bonnie.

Gordon worked at many occupations – drugstore clerk, bakery, rancher, professional welder, racehorse trainer, electrician, and Beaver City Manager. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and faithfully served in many callings and positions.

He was blessed with many talents and gifts. He was especially talented in music – singing, playing the accordion, violin, trumpet, and organ. He appreciated his God given gift to divine or water witch to find water in the deserts of the West. He was a shepherd to all kinds of animals and was a friend to all people.

Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, son Phillip, sister Joan Baker Hughes, brother Wendell Baker, granddaughter Angela, and daughters-in-law Nancy Baker and Kathleen Baker.

He is survived by Estelle, his loving wife of 72 years, brothers Lynn and Nolan, and children Robert, Pat (Pamela), Ron (Barbara), Kenneth (JoAnn) and Bonnie (Dan) Moore, 27 grandchildren and 75 great-grandchildren.

A viewing will be held at Southern Utah Mortuary (195 N. 200 W. Beaver, UT) on March 1, 2019 from 6:00 – 8:00pm. The funeral service will be held Saturday, March 2, 2019 at 11:00am at the Beaver 4th Ward Chapel (200 N. Main Street Beaver, UT). A Viewing will be held prior to the service from 9:30 – 10:30am at the church. Interment will be held in the Mountain View Cemetery in Beaver, UT under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary. www.sumortuary.com
