William Isaac Ashe was born 6 September 1871 in Jackson County, North Carolina, the son of William Marion Ashe (1841-1918) and Samantha Kesiah Stiles Ashe (1837-1904). He was married to Amanda Louisa Jane Extine (1867-1947) on 17 April 1898 in Sylva, NC. They had several children. He worked as a farmer, and they lived in Jackson County, NC their entire lives. He was widowed in 1947. He died on 21 March 1950 in Scotts Creek, NC at the age of 78. No obituary or death notice was found in the Sylva Herald archives. He was interred in the Ash Cemetery.
