According to the federal census, Francis Samuel Davis was born between the years 1770 and 1780. He was possibly born in St. Mary's or Charles Co., Maryland. The family was of the Methodist faith; I was told by Washington, D.C. historian Jane Donovan that Francis Davis was almost certainly buried in the Old Methodist cemetery, today known as Mount Zion cemetery, located between 26th St. and Mill Road in Georgetown, D.C. Later, the majority of the family was buried in Oak Hill in Georgetown, D.C. which was founded in 1848 and completed in 1853.
