There is a problem with his date of birth. Whereas the city death certificate states it as 21 Aug 1849, this is a typo. If you read his age, it was written as 51 years, 11 months and 2 days which makes the correct date 21 Aug 1859. Thomas was enumerated in 1870 as 11 years of age; in 1880 he is listed as 20 years of age and living with his mother; 1910, he was 50 according to the census. Census dates are not always correct, but should be close. I am adding his middle name and connections to his parents.
