Richard, of Rumford, passed on at the Hospice House.

He was born in Rumford, a son of Thomas and Clara (Bulger) McInnis, graduated from Stephens High School in Rumford, Class of 1939, and from Holy Apostles Seminary in Cromwell, Conn., and Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C.

He served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1939 to 1945 as a seaman first class.

He was ordained a priest Feb. 1, 1969 in Cromwell, Conn., by The Most Rev. Vincent J. Hines, and his assignments included chaplain in Washington, D.C., D.C. Jail and Women's Detention in Washington, director of maintenance at Holy Apostles Seminary in Cromwell, Conn., assistant at St. Dominic's Parish in Portland, assistant at St., Patrick's in Lewiston, assistant at St. John the Evangelist in South Portland, assistant at St. Dominic's in Portland, pastor at Sacred Heart in Lubec, pastor at St. Mary's in Wilton and retired July 17, 1991.

He was a communicant of St. Athanasius-St. John Church, member of Napoleon Ouellette Post 24, American Legion, a 4th degree and life member of Fr. Ambrose J. Barry Council 2091, Knights of Columbus, chaplain for St. Timothy Circle 504, Daughters of Isabella. He enjoyed sports, the family camp at Worthley Pond, singing, playing the piano and especially loved spending time with his family. He was best known to his family and friends as "Father Dick."

Survivors include sisters, Margaret and Mary L. McInnis of Rumford; nieces, Louise Regan, and husband, Patrick, of Bangor, Marcia McInnis of Gloucester, Mass., Pamela McInnis-Kaubris, and husband, Matt, of Rumford; nephews, Bill Wildes, and wife, Nancy, of Kennebunkport, M. Scott McInnis, and wife, Trisha, of Hamilton, Mass.; great-nieces, Susan Newman, and husband, Brad, of Hummelstown, Pa., Sarah Wildes of Boston, Mass., Alexa Kaubris of Rumford and Adelaide McInnis of Hamilton, Mass.; great-nephews, Greg Wildes of Kennbunkport, Austin McInnis of Hamilton, Mass. and Cameron Kaubris of Rumford; a sister-in-law, Frances McInnis of Rumford.

He was predeceased by sisters, Susan Wildes, Empress McInnis, Evelyn Brown, Mary and Geraldine McInnis; and brothers, Thomas Jr., John, Jerry, Austin, Gerald and D.H. Austin McInnis.

McINNIS - Richard W., 85, died on Dec. 5. A reception of the body will be held Friday at 4 p.m. at St. Athanasius-St. John Church, where he will lie in repose until 9 p.m. Friday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 9, at St. Athanasius-St John Church, Rumford with Bishop Richard Malone as Celebrant. Interment St. John Cemetery, Rumford.
