Tony was born on March 20, 1985, in the Dominican Republic where his father served as a Peace Corps volunteer. Residing in Davis most of his life, Tony was a student at Valley Oak Elementary, Emerson Junior High and Davis High School. Tony worked for local businesses including the Graduate, Sudwerk, Konditorei Austrian Pastry and The Davis Enterprise. Tony volunteered for the U.S. Army before his 2004 discharge. He was especially proud to have served in the California Conservation Corps in 2007-08.
A beloved member of the Northup family, Tony is survived by Davis relatives, including his father Robert Northup; brother Oliver Northup; aunts Mary Northup and Andra Northup; uncle and aunt James and Glenda Northup; and cousins Jody Northup, Harvest Northup, Matt Northup and Ben Northup. Tony is also survived by his mother Maritza Mendez; brother Alex Dilone; aunt Kathy Northup Schick; uncles Bill Northup and John Northup; and cousins Jeff Schick, Tracy Northup, Peter Northup, Eric Northup and Will Northup.
Tony was the grandson of long-time Davis residents Margaret “Peggy” Northup, who also died in 2016, and Oliver “Chip” Northup, who was murdered in 2013. Tragically, Tony was mistakenly identified as the likely perpetrator in the earliest days of the investigation, creating tremendous stress and financial losses for his family.
