Catherine Thérèse de Goyon de Matignon was a daughter of Henri Goyon, Seigneur de Matignon et Comte de Thorigny, and Marie Françoise Le Tellier, Dame de La Luthumière. She was an aunt of Jacques I, Prince of Monaco. She married as her first husband, and his second wife, on September 6, 1679, Jean-Baptiste Antoine Colbert, Marquis de Seignelay (1651-1690). Catherine was later married again on September 22, 1696 to Charles de Lorraine, Comte de Marsan, a member of the distinguished house of Lorraine which held the rank of Prince étranger at the French royal court of the Ancien Régime. Catherine died in childbirth with her last child, a daughter named Marie, who died 9 days after birth.
