WINTER HAVEN - Joan Springer Birkes, a long-term Winter Haven resident, born in Royse City Texas, died January 18, 2019, from her second battle with cancer.
She was preceded in death by her sons, Phillip Dean Birkes and Jeffrey Carl Birkes, and is survived by her daughter, Jeri Davina Birkes, and grandsons Seth David Birkes and Hunter Dean Cook.
At Joan's request, no memorial was held and she donated her body to science. Joan's passing is mourned deeply by her dear friend, Elizabeth Gary Wells, and the Pickleball Gang of Auburndale.
