Abraham was the son of Frans Xaver Ritter and Victoria Heuber, of Hohenfurch, Weilheim-Schongau, Oberbayern, Bavaria, Germany.
He and his wife were married in Reichling, Bavaria in 1829, and emigrated to America in 1847.
Abraham Ritter, when 44 years old, enlisted on 11/27/1861 at Carver, Carver County, MN as a Private and mustered into "E" Co. MN 4th Infantry. He was discharged for disability on 8/8/1862.
