"Thomas Applegate Dies This Morning --- Thomas Applegate, a well known and respected resident of Yoncalla, passed away this morning after a very short illness. Death came very suddenly and was a sad shock to his large number of friends and relatives. Thomas Applegate was born in 1848, near Yoncalla, and has passed his life there, where he owns a large ranch. He is the son of Charles Applegate, now deceased, who was one of the pioneer residents of Yoncalla.
"The deceased is survived by his widow and eight children: Carl Applegate, of Butte City, Cal.; Agnes King, of Butte City; Mrs. J. W. Hunt, of Sacramento; Omer Applegate, of Willows, Cal.; Beatrice Crouch, of Portland; Mrs. Ray B. Beckley, of Portland; A. E. Applegate, of Puyallup, Wash.; and James Applegate, of Yoncalla."
