Major League Baseball Player. Highly rated rookie with the Philadelphia Phillies who was a Golden Gloves champion before his baseball career. He debuted on September 14, 1949 and hit a home run in his first major league at bat. His next two successive hits were also homers. He injured his leg severely and missed out on the Phillies 1950 pennant winning season. He came back to play a handful of games during the 1951 season before he retired to become a special-education teacher in Clifton, NJ, becoming Teacher Of The Year in 1974.
