Verda is my cousin.
Verda Elizabeth Webb Bickmore was born Tuesday, March 21, 1905 in Richmond, Cache County, Utah to Joseph and Cora Hendricks Webb, the fourth of six children.

She attended Utah State Agricultural College (USU), where she met and married William Kenneth Bickmore from Paradise, Utah on April 22, 1926 in the Logan Temple. He passed away on December 16, 1985 after fifty-nine years of marriage. From 1948 until her death, she resided at 588 West Noall Avenue (3100 South) in the Val Verda area of Bountiful.

She worked at ZCMI and J.C. Penney's in Salt Lake City and made and repaired fur coats at (Wilford) Woods Furrier in Bountiful and helped her husband in his several grocery businesses.

Verda was very active into her ninety-sixth year - living alone, driving her car, bowling on a league, volunteering at Lakeview Hospital (with 5000 hours of service), maintaining her home and half-acre lot of flower and vegetable gardens and fruit trees - and was known for her cooking, canning, crocheting, flower arranging, and quilting skills. She served in many callings in the church and was a visiting teacher for over seventy years.

She was active in the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, served as election judge, an officer in the Salt Lake Garden Club, secretary of her local DUP unit, church librarian, floricultural judge at Davis County Fair, Utah State Fair, statewide judge of beautification and gardens, and a member of Iris Society.

What a wonderful and precious legacy she has left her family and all who knew her with her examples of faith, of compassionate service and of love.

Verda passed away peacefully of causes incident to age on Tuesday, January 30, 2007 at Legacy House Assisted Living Center of Bountiful.

Funeral Services were held on Monday, February 5, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. in the Val Verda Second Ward Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located at 3317 South 800 West in Bountiful.
