1926-2019

Jean Ann Albers, 92, of St. Joseph, died March 9, 2019, surrounded by her family.
Jean was born Oct. 3, 1926, in St. Joseph, to Thomas and Nellie Irene (Bally) Riley.
She was raised in St. Joseph, and graduated from Benton High School and Gard Business School.

After graduation, she worked at various livestock commission offices including National Livestock Commission Co, which is where she met her future husband Warren when Warren's father set up their first date, which was going to the Hoof & Horn for lunch. They were married Sept. 24, 1950.
After their marriage, they farmed in Bendena, Kansas, for over 30 years .
She was active at St John's Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School and Bible School for many years.
Later, they moved to St Joseph, where she and Warren owned and operated the very same National Livestock Commission, where their life had started.
She was a member of Gideon's International Auxilary and the Carnegie Culture Club.
Jean was also a faithful and active member of King Hill Baptist Church (now called Journey Baptist), where she taught Sunday School for many years.
Jean was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Warren Albers on Nov. 27, 2015; brother, T.C. Riley Jr.; and a sister, Lorraine Jackson.
Survivors include: her children, Annette Leader (Ray), of St. Joseph; David Albers (Gayle), of O'Fallon, Missouri; Gayla Lenhardt (Matt), of O'Fallon; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister's-in-law Marilyn (Max) Oltjen, Janice Dahl (Gilmore) and Kathy Albers ; numerous nieces and nephews, as well as other relatives and friends.
Memorial contributions to Gideon's International or Journey Baptist Church would be appreciated.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, March 16, 2019, 10 a.m. at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel.

Burial Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will begin after 2 p.m. Friday, March 15, 2019, where the family will receive friends from 6. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
