SCOTTSVILLE, VA - Sammy Frank Cloyd, 67, of Scottsville, Virginia and formerly of Jonesborough, Tennessee passed away on Friday, February 8, 2019 at the University of Virginia Hospital.
He was born on Monday, December 3, 1951 in Johnson City, Tennessee, son of the late Letha Cloyd.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a brother, Pete Cloyd.
Sammy retired from the Washington County Highway Department in Tennessee. He was a Veteran, having served his country in the U.S. Army. He enjoyed farming and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife: Leslie Mitchell Cloyd; two step-children: Samantha Dean and husband, Christopher of Kingsport, Tennessee and Michael Powell and wife, Sara of Church Hill, Tennessee; five grandchildren: Peyton, Kaitlin, and Brady Dean and Dylan and Haley Powell; and a number of other extended family members and friends.
