She was the daughter of Thomas nmn (1873-1937) and Ada Leona Brunnemer (1877-1905) Harmon.

Her siblings: Alta Viola Harmon Francis (1894-1976); Earl Bryant Harmon (1896-1984); William Henry Harmon (1902-1959) and Ralph H Harmon (1904-1905) - he died 3 weeks after his mother with tuberculosis.

Opal's father then married Artie Ollie Speas (1874-1937) on January 23, 1907 in Johnson Co, Indiana. (NOTE: both Opal's father and his second wife, Artie, died in a car/interurban accident in Marion Co, Indiana - just across the Johnson County line.)

Opal's half siblings: John Thomas Harmon (1909-1967); Helen Marie Harmon Cisco (1911-1986); Nellie Speas Harmon Carson Reeves (1913-2002) and Donald Edward Harmon (1916-1981).

She attended Common School #5 on Sheek Rd just north of Worthsville Rd (750N) - in 1995 this was a residence.
Opal graduated from Whiteland High School in Johnson Co, Indiana in 1918.

About 1920 she contracted polio. Her legs were massaged by her sisters, Helen and Nellie, as part of her treatment. Her father also took her to a chiropractor and he is given much credit for her recovery. She recovered but wore corrective shoes in later years.

She played piano.

A service for M Opal Harmon, Indianapolis, will be held a 2 pm Saturday at Wilson-St Pierre Greenwood Chapel.

She lived most of her adult life in Indianapolis. She retired 23 years ago as a buyer for F W Woolworth Co, where she worked for 25 years. (NOTE: She retired September 30, 1953 - so her starting date with Woolworth would have been September 30 1928.)

She was a member of Roberts Park Methodist Church.
