Mike Abbey, age 69 of Paris, TN, died Friday, March 15, 2019, at Henry County Medical Center in Paris, TN.
He worked for many years as an automobile mechanic, along with working in construction. He was a member of Tennessee Valley Community Church in Paris and the Christian Motorcycle Association. Mike was a U.S. Navy veteran, a member of AmVets Post 45 where he served as a veteran’s service officer, and 3rd Vice. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 89 and the VFW Post 1889. He was a former member of the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1046 in Jacksonville, FL. Mike loved helping veterans and enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Mike was born August 27, 1949, in St. Louis, MO, to the late Ambrose Francis Abbey and the late Eleanor Rosalie Averbeck Abbey.
He was married May 8, 2003, to Patricia Terrazas Abbey, who survives, of Paris, TN.
Along with his wife, he is also survived by one daughter, Sara (Bernd) Kollmann of Paris, TN; one son, Brian (Kris) Abbey of Jeffersonville, IN; one stepdaughter of Marianna (Cris) Carr of Elizabethton, TN; one stepson, Samuel Shell of Tennessee; one sister, Judy (Randy) Bauer of Ohio; five grandchildren, Austin Harris, Houston Abbey, Kaitlyn Kollmann, Kian Abbey, and Logan Abbey; two great grandchildren, Bexlynn Harris and Natalie Harris; and several other step grandchildren and nephews.
Arrangements will be handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap St., Paris, TN, 38242. The body is to be cremated. Memorial visitation will be Thursday, March 21, 2019, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home. A graveside memorial service will follow the visitation on Thursday, March 21, 2019, at the Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery at Parkers Crossroads in Wildersville, TN. Honorary Pallbearers will be all veterans.
Entombment of cremains will follow the service in the Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery at Parkers Crossroads.
