She was born April 10, 1933, to the late Clarence E. and Elva Mae Murphy Adkins in Warren County. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Virginia McClaskey.
She married Lowell E. Dixon Jan. 9, 1955, at Benson Chapel United Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband, Lowell, and daughters, Christy Dixon and Elizabeth McDaze, a son, Craig (Dawn) Dixon and two grandchildren, Brenna and Ethan Dixon.
She attended Foster Grade School and graduated from Covington High school in 1951. She was awarded the Tri Kappa Province Seven Hilda Bowen Nursing Scholarship; attended Methodist Hospital School of Nursing, Indianapolis and graduated in 1954. She worked as a registered nurse at Lakeview Hospital (Provena now); Olin Mathison Chemical Corporation; and was school nurse at Covington Elementary for 22 years, retiring in 1998.
She was an active member of Benson Chapel United Methodist Church serving on many committees and was a member of the United Methodist Women.
An avid animal lover, especially cats, she advocated that pet owners take responsible care of their pets. Surrounded by woodlands her entire life she received much peace from walks and the changing seasons. Growing plants and flowers indoors and out was her hobby. Her desire to become a nurse was a childhood ambition and she never regretted that direction in her life.

Michael Dillon; Burial: Mount Hope Cemetery, Covington; Visitation: 5-9 p.m. EST Tuesday, Nov. 29 at Benson Chapel United Methodist Church and after noon on Wednesday.
