Herbert R. Borgwardt, age 83, of rural Valders, passed away Saturday evening, December 9, 1995, at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc. Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 13, 1995, at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, in the town of Liberty. Rev. Robert Schultz will officiate with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
He was born February 20, 1912, in the town of Liberty, son of the late August and Ella Stahl Borgwardt. He attended Trinity Lutheran School and farmed in the town of Liberty until his retirement in 1975.
He married Lillian Ibe December 12, 1942, at Trinity Lutheran Church. He was a former elder of Trinity Lutheran Church and was the sexton for the church cemetery for many years.
Survivors include his wife Lillian; one sister-in-law, Delores Borgwardt, Sheboygan his dog, Sporty; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his mother and father-in-law, Herman and Hattie Ibe; two brothers, Ervin and Harold; one sister, Ruth; one nephew, Merlin.
Friends may call at the Trinity Lutheran Church on Wednesday from 11 a.m. until the time of service. A memorial fund has been established in Herbert's name. The Christianson-Deja Funeral Home is serving the family. Herald Times Reporter, December 11, 1995 P. A2
