Marie G. (Sassarone) Sibilia, 76, of Agawam, passed away unexpectedly on March 25, 2019. She was born in Bronx, New York on September 5, 1942 to the late Frank and Lydia (Pisano) Sassarone. She graduated from Agawam High School in 1960 and after raising her family, she attended S.T.C.C. where she earned her Associates Degree as a Medical Lab Technician. For ten years she worked as a paraprofessional in the Agawam School System before her retirement. She was also involved with many organizations throughout the years including the Agawam Democratic Women’s Club, Agawam Little League Baseball, and Agawam Youth Hockey Association.
She leaves her loving husband of 57 years, Jerry Sibilia Sr. She was the devoted mother of five children, Jerry Sibilia Jr. and his wife Brenda, Thomas Sibilia and his wife Lisa, Lea-Ann Rivest and her husband Paul, Peter Sibilia and his wife Dina, and Michael Sibilia and his wife Andrea, all from Agawam. Her greatest joy was spending time with her ten grandchildren, Regina, Courtney, T.J., Emily, Cameron, Jordan, Nicholas, Isabella, Michael and Franco. She will be deeply missed by her sister Patricia McCarthy, her brother Ronald Sassarone and his wife Christine, her sister-in-law Concetta Bruno and her best friend Franny Albro. Besides her parents, Marie was predeceased by her brother Richard.
Family and friends are invited to gather for visiting hours on Friday, March 29, 2019 from 4:00-7:00pm at Colonial Forastiere Funeral Home on 985 Main Street in Agawam. The funeral will begin at 10:30am at the funeral home on Saturday, March 30th with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:30am in St. John the Evangelist Church in Agawam, followed by burial in Agawam Center Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Marie’s honor to Autism Connections, 116 Pleasant St, Suite 366, Easthampton MA 01027.
