Mrs. MABLE (MATHIS) DOUGLAS was the daughter of Rev. David A. Mathis Sr. and Mrs. Rosa (Long) Mathis.

She was the wife of Guthrie Douglas.

Obituary
"Funeral services for Mrs. Mable Mathis Douglas were held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Gethsemane Methodist Church in Marion County. The arrangements were by Lewis-Walker Funeral Home. The Rev. F.B. Johnson officiated, and the burial was in Gethsemane Cemetery. A native of Smithland, she attended Gethsamane Elementary School and Central High School in Jefferson. She was a restaurant owner and a member of Gethsemane Methodist Church. She died on January 23 at Schumpert Sanitarium in Shreveport. Surviving are her husband, Guthrie Douglas, of Smithland; one daughter, Mrs. Nell Marie {Nelmarie} Douglas, of Smithland; two brothers, David Mathis Jr. and Ronald Mathis, both of Smithland; two sisters, Mrs. Virgie Mae Andrews, of Smithland, and Mrs. Margie Chism, of Dallas; her parents, Mr and Mrs. David Mathis; three stepsisters, Mrs. Mary R. Tyler and Mrs. Amelia Jones, both of Dallas, and Mrs. Velma L. Taylor, of Houston; one stepbrother, Francis Otis Williams; and four grandchildren."
