Ms Smith was born on October 17, 1973 in Natchez, the daughter of John Myles and Thelma Carter-Smith. She was a graduate of the Natchez High School Class of 1991. She continued her education at Phillips Jr. College with a Associate degree in Business Administration/Accounting and Copiah-Lincoln Community College. Takita was employed in the Office of Vikramaditya Dulam, MD as a medical billing and coding specialist and with Wal-Mart Department Store as a customer service representative. Miss Smith attended various churches throughout the area where she sang in many choirs. Takita was a member of Phi Beta Lambda. Takita enjoyed cooking, traveling, and surfing the internet.

Takita is preceded in death by her adoptive mother: Katie Ruth Carter-Smith; her adoptive father: Charles Edward Smith, Sr. and John Myles, her biological father.

She is survived by: her fiancee: Jeffery White of Natchez; her mother: Thelma Inez Carter-Smith of Hattiesburg, MS; two sons: Kyron Jarrell Smith and Jamarii Zphabian White; four brothers: Charles Edward Smith, Jr., John Myles, Jr., Tramaine Smith, all of Natchez and Steven Myles of South Carolina; four sisters: Lequtitia Carter-Hardy of Hattiesburg, MS, Eileen Carter of Gulfport, MS, Kierra Carter of Atlanta, GA; Diedre Myles of Natchez and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
