Mr. Hughes retired from the U.S. Navy as an Electrical Engineer Safety Communication Director and also worked at the Martin Marietta Corporation. He was a member of the Prestonsburg Church of Christ and the Wheelwright Masonic Lodge # 889.
Survivors include his wife and parent, a son, Roger Dale Hughes, Jr., Ocala, Fl., a daughter, Penny Hughes, Virginia Beach, Va., a step-daughter, Jane Maynard, John's Creek, Ky., a brother, Ronald H. Hughes, Pikeville, Ky., two sisters, Deana Newsome, Jensen Beach, Fl., Tonda Ley Hughes, Chicago, Il., and eight grandchildren.
Funeral services for Roger Dale Hughes will be conducted Sunday, February 24, 2008 at 2:00 p.m., at the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, Martin, Ky., with the Clergymen Rick Kelley and Joe Ryan officiating. Burial will follow in the Davidson Memorial Gardens, Ivel, Ky.
