A longtime resident of Laurinburg, NC, he was a member of the Presbyterian Church and sang in the choir for many years. Mr. McClendon served in the US Army during the Korean War. He retired from J.P. Stevens in Cheraw, SC as a systems engineer responsible for the computerization of Dye and Finish operations. In retirement in Weslaco, TX he served on the board of Siesta Retirement Village and volunteered in the local community.
He is survived by a daughter and two sons, three grandchildren; and one surviving sister.
