John Adams enrolled at San Francisco, California, September 6 and mustered-in as Private of Captain David B. Akey's Company E, 2nd California Cavalry, September 7, 1864. At enlistment he was described as age 23 years, that he was born at Hesse, Germany, and that his occupation was a Tailor. Private died at Camp Babbitt, Visalia, Tulare County, California, of brain trouble which was caused by a fall from his horse about three weeks before his death November 9, 1865.
