ROME - Mrs. Owen Barnes, 69, of 605 W. Thomas St., a former resident of Boonville, died early today in the Rome Hospital where she had been a patient for three weeks.
The former Stella M. Spencer, she was born in Windsor Conn., the daughter of Charles and Sadie Hoban Spencer. She came to the Boonville area as a child with her parents and attended the Boonville schools.
She was married to Mr. Barnes in Boonville. He died Nov. 8, 1966.
For several years Mrs. Barnes lived in Poughkeepsie while she was employed at Wingdale. For the past 10 years she had made her home in Rome with her sister, Mrs. Ralph (Flavin) Traxel.
Mrs. Barnes was a member of Zion Episcopal Church, Rome; a former member of the Women of the Moose, and a member of the Rome Post 2246 VFW Auxiliary.
Surviving besides her sister in Rome, are her stepfather, Frank Sasenbury of Hawkinsville; a son, Robert F. Barnes of San Jose, Calif., one grandson; two other sisters, Mrs. Sadie Rice of Boonville, and Mrs. Albert (Laura) Cyr of Stittville; two brothers, Frank Sasenbury, Jr. of Boonville, and Russell Sasenbury of Rome.
