Martha Evelyn Amos, 89, of Mannington, passed away on Friday, April 5, 2019 at Pleasant Acres Christian Haven in Fairmont. She was born October 9, 1929 in Grafton, WV, a daughter of the late Russell Marcus and Dovie Grace Thompson Golden.
She is survived by her children: Robert (Barbara) Amos Jr, Paul (Brenda) Amos, Phyllis (Cal) Zirkle, Mary (Scott) Robertson, Ann (Billy) Martin, and Mark Amos, Grandchildren Robert Amos III, Autumn (Jason) Rucker, William Amos,
Laura Johnson, Rebecca (Daniel) Geoghagen, Grace Johnson, Emma Johnson, Joshua Amos, Aaron (Sarah) Amos, Rachel Martin, three great-grandchildren, Evelyn Rucker, Sawyer Rucker and Atlas Geoghagen.
In addition to her parents, Martha was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Amos on August 12, 2010, daughter Martha Sue Johnson, sisters, Christine Patterson, Maxine Ward and Mary Stripe.
Martha was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Mannington. She was a retired school teacher in Marion County, having taught at Mannington Middle School. Her husband and her family was her life, and she enjoyed sewing and was a history buff.
The family would like to thank Amedisys Hospice Staff, Pleasant Acres Christian Haven Staff, and Dr. Peter Ang for the care given to their mother.
Family and friends may call on Friday, April 12, 2019 from 2-8 pm at Masters Funeral Home, 209 Main Street, Mannington, WV. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2019 at 11:00 am in the funeral home with Pastor Bill Stutler and Rev. Donald Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at Mannington Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Amedisys Hospice Care or Pleasant Acres Christian Haven Assisted Living in Fairmont.
