WILLIAMSBURG - Richard "Dick" Maynard Rhoades, 72, of Williamsburg, died Thursday at Munson Medical Center.
Born Feb. 18, 1929, in St. Louis, he was the son of Buhl B. and Irene Etta (Breece) Rhoades. On July 9, 1955, in Midland, he married the former Mary Patricia Wontorcik who survives.
Dick was a retired electrician from Local Union 498. He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church and a former member of the Alma Elks Club. Dick was an avid sportsman, enjoying fishing, and for a number of years managed fast pitch softball and little league baseball.
Along with his wife, Pat, of Williamsburg, he is survived by three sons, Dan Rhoades of St. Louis, Dave (Terri) Rhoades of St. Louis and Dick (Pam) Rhoades of Alma; one daughter, Jill Rhoades (Rob Butryn) of Interlochen; six grandchildren; four sisters, Mary Parkes, Margaret Worthy, Nancy Hovey and Carol Bailey; and many nieces and nephews.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Buhl Rhoades, Jr. and Gerald Rhoades.
Cremation has taken place.
Visitation will be at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.
A memorial Mass will be at Christ the King Catholic Church Monday at noon with the Rev. Father Duane Wachowiak serving as celebrant.
Burial will take place at a later date in Circle Hill Cemetery, Williamsburg.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Father Fred Foundation.
