Son of Clarence A Bernstein and Madelyn A Herron Bernstein, Husband of Evelyn Getman Bernstein, Father of Nona, Michael and Terre and Grandfather of Ashlee, Branden and Madison.

May 15, 2007 - Mr. Robert L. Bernstein, 72, of Walnut Street, Canajoharie, New York died late Tuesday evening, May 15, 2007 at St. Mary's Hospital after a long illness. He was born December 15, 1934 in Cobleskill, NY, the son of Clarence Bernstein and Madelyn Herron Bernstein. Robert was a graduate of Canajoharie High School, Class of 1952. Robert was employed in the shipping department at Beech-Nut Corp. for 40 years retiring in 1992. He spent most of his life in the Canajoharie area. Mr. Bernstein also resided in Florida for a short period of time.

He was of the Methodist faith. Robert was a member of the Beech-Nut 25 Year Club, the Canajoharie Eagles Club-Boiling Pot Aerie Fraternal Order of Eagles #3846. He enjoyed playing golf and was a member as well as being a former board member of the Canajoharie Country Club. He was an avid bowler, and the former secretary of his leagues while he was bowling. He married Evelyn A. Getman on July 2, 1955, at the Fort Plain Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Evelyn A. Bernstein of Canajoharie, NY; two daughters, Nona J. Myers and her husband Tom of Palm City, Fl; Terre Lynn Gifford and her husband Gary of Jupiter, FL; one son, Michael A. Bernstein and his wife, Trisha, of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; three grandchildren, Ashlee and Branden Bernstein of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, and Madison Gifford of Jupiter, FL; one brother, Bruce Bernstein and wife, Francis, of Hyattesville, Maryland; one sister, Barbara Fassett and husband, Howard, of Cherry Valley, NY; sister in law, Gwendolyn Getman of Canajoharie, NY; his step father, Clifford Azer of Fort Plain, NY; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. A graveside service will be held on Monday, May 21, 2007, at 10:00 a.m. at the Fort Plain Cemetery with the Rev. Alan Griffith officiating.
