Franklin Willis was born in Ross county, Ohio, September 9, 1839, and died at Poneto, Wells county, Indiana, April 10, 1904, aged 64 years, 7 months and 1 day. He lived in Indiana thirty-four years, most of the time in and near Poneto. He was a veteran of the Civil War and for many years received a pension for disabilities received in the service of his country. He was married to Miss Rebecca Holloway, January 1, 1862. To this union were born eight children, two sons and six daughters. One son and three daughters preceded their father to the future world, while his companion and four children are left to mourn his death.
The funeral services were held in the M. E. church on Tuesday, April 12, and were conducted by Rev. J. C. F. Scherich, of the Baptist church, and interment was made in the Stahl cemetery. The family have the sympathy of the community in their sad bereavement.
