Mary Anne ‘Amy’ Haviland (nee Pain), was born in Holborn in London on the 19th of May 1832 the daughter of Edward Pain and his wife Philippa (nee Bellew).

She married Dr Alfred Joseph Haviland in Battersea on the 5th of August 1856. They moved to Bridgewater where he had a GP surgery and where their two children were born. A daughter Louisa in 1857 and a son Charles in 1859. Neither of their children married and both are buried with them.

In 1871 they were living in Hampstead where Alfred was working as a surgeon and ten years later, with his son Charles he was living in Northamptonshire where he was Medical Officer of Health for the region. His son was assisting him here.

In 1896 when Joseph retired they moved to Frimley Green where they had some of the land owned by her father. Today this constitutes much of Lake Road, Bellew Road and as far as the lower half of the Frimley Green Recreation Ground.

The house they built for themselves was Ridgemount, but they also owned properties including others in Bellew Road.

Amy died at Ridgemount on the 21st of May 1922 and was buried with her husband on the 25th of May 1922.
