Parents of Bernadine Blum were Johannes "John" Blum (1877-1935) and Elizabeth Heinrich Blum (1874-1939). She had two siblings, Anna Katherina (1905-1991) and Jacob (1902-1989).
Her parents were divorced or separated when she was young. Her mother Elizabeth became ill so Bernadine lived with her sister Anna Katherine and her family for a few years and also spent time in a orphanage. Later she went to live with her father in Chicago, Illinois.
Bernadine never married. She worked most of her adult life for the Saint Luke Hospital in Denver, Colorado.
She loved to travel and spent her vacation time each year traveling to different states.
She retired from the hospital and lived several more years until she fell and broke her hip. Difficulties from this fall contributed to her expiring at the young age of 91.

It was thought that her headstone was to be purchased from her estate Will money -( left to her church) but so far there is no stone.
