James W. Beichner, Sr., 69 of 215 Cedar Ave, well known Oil City resident, died suddenly at 11:15 PM Monday in his home.

He was born in Shippenville, June 18, 1893, a son of the late Frank and Margarett Rapp Beichner.

Mr. Beichner was a retired employee of the United Natural Gas Company after serving 42 years. He retired in 1969.

He wasa member of St./ Joseph Church, Holy Name Society and Knights of Columbus of which he was a fourth degree member.

Mr. Beichner had made his home in Oil City since 1937. For 15 years prior to that,he lived in Van.

He also worked for several years in Oklahoma.

He was married to Sophia Schoenhofer in 1918 in St. Pauls, Kansas.

Surviving are his wife and the following children: Elmo J Beichner of West Palm Beach, FL, Mrs. Kenneth (Ruth) Tidball of Franklin, Mrs. Munro (Margeret) Rateau of Panama Canal Zone, Mrs Raymond J (Helen) Schettler of Oil City, Mrs. William (Gertrude) Pinaeu of Buffalo NY, Mrs. Arthur (Jean) Craig of Butler, James W. Beichner of Oil City, Mrs. Daniel (Patricia) Farley of Pittsburgh, and Joseph P. Beichner of Mt. Jewett.

The body was taken to the Reinsel Funeral Home where the family will receive friends between 7 and 9 PM today. Funeral arrangements will be announced.
